Sunday’s matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams is a big one. The 49ers get to show that last week was a sign of things to come. The Rams get to show that last week wasn’t a fluke. Regardless of what happens, this matchup will make NFL history.
San Francisco 49ers And Los Angeles Rams To Make NFL History
The starting quarterbacks for the game (barring any freak injuries) will be Matthew Stafford and Brock Purdy. Stafford was picked number one overall by the Detroit Lions in 2009. Famously, Purdy was the last pick, Mr. Irrelevant, in the 2022 draft. It will be the first time in NFL history that a quarterback taken with the first pick of the NFL draft will face off against a quarterback taken with the last pick of the NFL draft. It makes sense that this hasn’t happened before. While many quarterbacks have been taken with the first overall pick, not many have been taken with the last pick let alone start games. It is a cool piece of NFL history that we will all get to watch.
Can The Rams Compete?
I find it hard to believe that the Rams are going to be able to recreate the magic of last week. The 49ers defense suffocated the Pittsburgh Steelers who have good weapons. Puka Nacua and Tutu Atwell are nice stories but I doubt will have the same success against this 49ers defense. Still, very few gave them a chance and they smoked the Seahawks in Seattle. I wouldn’t count out the Rams but it will be much tougher than last week.
The San Francisco 49ers are looking to start 2-0 against the Los Angeles Rams. They have been very vocal about this being the year they will make their run. Can they keep the hot start going?
