The San Francisco 49ers held their second practice of the week on Thursday to prepare for this weekend’s NFC Championship game versus the Detroit Lions. While San Francisco is dealing with injuries on the offensive side of the ball, getting this playmaker back in pads on Thursday is a step in the right direction.
San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel Participated in a Limited Fashion for Thursday’s Practice
Deebo Samuel, who was not seen on the practice field yesterday was able to suit up and log limited participation on Thursday. Samuel was taken out of last week’s game versus the Green Bay Packers with a shoulder injury on the second drive of the game and was ruled out for the remainder of the contest.
Samuel ended the game versus Green Bay with only 2 catches for 24 yards which marked the first game San Francisco has won without Deebo Samuel playing at least 10 offensive snaps this season.

While Samuel only practiced in a limited fashion on Thursday, he showed high energy throughout practice even dancing and shaking hands with his teammates. The 49ers will hold one more practice before they make a ruling on his status, but seeing Samuel in high spirits and on the practice field is an encouraging sign heading into the biggest game of the season.
Samuel Dropped 189-Yard Performance in Last Matchup versus Detroit Lions
In the only matchup of his career versus the Lions, Samuel was unstoppable catching 9 of 12 targets for 189 yards and a touchdown. While this a completely different Detroit team from the squad he torched, history could repeat itself if Samuel is able to suit up on Sunday.

The 49ers will hold one more practice before Sunday’s game where they await the Lions arrival. Coverage for this year’s NFC Championship game will begin at 6:30 PM Eastern time at Levi’s Stadium.
