There has been much talk about San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy this offseason. The 49ers’ front office has been very clear that Purdy is their quarterback but his elbow injury that he sustained in the playoffs last year has put his status in doubt. On the Pat McAfee Show yesterday, NFL insider Ian Rapoport revealed when Purdy should be ready to play.

San Francisco 49ers Quarterback Brock Purdy Ready For Week 1?

Rapoport delivered good news for 49ers fans. “Brock Purdy should be 100% right before the start of the season barring any setbacks,” the insider said in his appearance on the show. Most of the offseason talk has revolved around who will start the season, Trey Lance or Sam Darnold. There is a chance that neither of them will be needed this season. The hope is that Purdy will be able to be the week 1 starter. The question now becomes how much practice time will he get with the team and how much he needs to get ready.

    Big Expectations For 2023

The 49ers are ready to win now. The defense is stacked and is easily one of the best in the league. The offense is full of weapons with Deebo Samuel, Christian McCaffrey, and George Kittle. Purdy showed last season that he can play well enough to lead the team to many wins. Analysts were less certain about what Lance and Darnold could do if he was going to miss extended time. The NFC is wide open and the opportunity is there for the 49ers to make a Super Bowl run. Having Purdy for all 17 games would be huge.

San Francisco has been so close for the last five years. They have narrowly missed Super Bowls in the last couple of seasons. Now, they are hoping that a healthy Brock Purdy can finally lead them to the promised land.
