The Super Bowl 58 between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers has been marred with injuries. Brock Purdy and the Niners have taken much of the hit, with another player falling in the third quarter.
Dre Greenlaw and Deebo Samuel have both suffered injuries throughout the game, and veteran guard Jon Feliciano added to the list when he suffered a health setback of his own in the penultimate period.
Jon Feliciano Injury for San Francisco 49ers
Feliciano, who is the starting right guard for the 49ers, suffered an injury with a little over two minutes remaining in the third quarter. He went down after a 1st-and-10 plan when Purdy was attempting to pass the ball to Brandon Aiyuk.
Feliciano was quickly brought to the blue medical tent to get checked, with Spencer Burford replacing him. By the fourth quarter, Feliciano was not on the field, as he was spotted on the bench without a helmet.
While the nature of his injury was not disclosed, it’s definitely a major hit for the 49ers who need as much healthy bodies as they can in a bid to survive the Chiefs.
Sure enough, fans were devastated with Feliciano’s injury.
“Jon Feliciano is down on the field after that first down incompletion. Able to jog off the field but looks like an arm issue the way he’s going off,” a fan wrote.
Another one said, “Jon Feliciano is a huge loss. He’s been one of the absolute best run blockers in football this year.”
San Francisco 49ers Injury Woes
As mentioned, it has been an injury-riddled game for the San Francisco 49ers. Earlier, they lost Dre Greenlaw due to an Achilles injury that is believed to be a tear.
Then after that, Deebo Samuel also fell down to a hamstring issue, though he was able to return since.
Still, a less-than-100-percent healthy team is not ideal in the Super Bowl, which is definitely the biggest game of their lives so far.
With Jon Feliciano down, the 49ers will have to dig deep in the roster to pull off the victory against the Chiefs.
