Ever since getting benched and frozen out by the Denver Broncos at the end of the 2023 regular season, the writing has been on the wall for Russell Wilson.
Russell Wilson Set For A New Locale In 2024
The former Super Bowl winner and 2 x attendee has been in limbo about his future since the end of the season, despite Broncos head coach, Sean Payton, stating that they had not yet made a decision as of the end of the regular season, although it seems as if the future will be anywhere but Denver after Wilson and wife, Ciara, placed their house for sale late last week.
Amidst speculation that a litany of teams could be interested in his services as a starter, despite an apparent decline over the past two seasons, it seems as if one team has become the likeliest landing spot for the former Seattle Seahawk.
Russ’s Next Team A Done Deal?
Now, according to Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, Wilson will be a Pittsburgh Steeler come the start of the 2024 season, per JPA Football/Nightcap Show.
Oh wow: Chad Johnson says on @NightcapShow_ that #Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson will join the #Steelers this season.
“A little birdie told me, and I said this many shows ago, Russell Wilson’s coming on over to the Steelers.”

What Would Russell Wilson Do For The Pittsburgh Steelers’ Offense?
Despite making the playoffs in yet another winning, above .500 Mike Tomlin season, the Pittsburgh Steelers were never a true contender throughout the entirety of the 2023 season, even after starter, Kenny Pickett’s backup, Mason Rudolph, started to get hot towards the end of the season.
Although the offense as a whole improved drastically upon the dismissal of much maligned offensive coordinator, Matt Canada, the quarterback play still left much to be desired.
Few consider Rudolph to be the answer long term, and even those who believe that Pickett is a starting caliber player do not believe that his ceiling is such of that to compete with AFC juggernauts such as reigning Super Bowl champs, the Kansas City Chiefs, and Joe Burrow-lead Cincinnati Bengals.
Whilst Wilson may not be quite the force he was in the mid to late 2010s, he is still a franchise quarterback who has been to 2 Super Bowls, and in Pittsburgh would be surrounded by a top 10 offensive line (in DVOA), two solid backs in Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren, and excellent receiving targets in George Pickens, Diontae Johnson and Pat Freiermuth.
With help from those weapons around him, Wilson has every chance of going back to (or almost) to the player he once was, and giving the Steelers, for the first time since Big Ben, a bona fide franchise player at QB.
