Arkansas center Ricky Stromberg was named to the 2022 Outland Trophy Watch List on Tuesday. The Outland Trophy recognizes college football’s best interior offensive lineman. Stromberg was also tabbed as a preseason All-SEC performer by the media and Athlon sports. Last season, Stromberg performed well for Arkansas, who led the Power Five in rushing. According to Pro Football Focus, in 873 snaps, Stromberg gave up just three sacks and was penalized just eight times. PFF also graded Stromberg as one of the best centers in the nation last year. For his efforts, the Associated Press voted Stromberg to second-team All-SEC, while PFF and Phil Steele put him on the third team.
Stromberg will anchor one of the best offensive lines in the SEC next year. As previously mentioned, the Razorbacks led the Power 5 in rushing, and they will bring back four starters. Along with Ricky Stromberg, left guard Brady Latham could also receive some recognition this year. Latham was voted to third-team All-SEC by the media during SEC media days.
The offensive line will remain integral to the Razorbacks success. Without WR Treylon Burks, the Hogs may rely more on the running game earlier in the year. With a daunting schedule early in the year, the offensive line can’t afford to get off to a slow start.
