The Detroit Lions are extending a coach’s contract
The Detroit Lions made a great run toward the end of the season to make a run at the playoffs. They came up short of their first postseason appearance since 2016. However, the team finished the season on a high note by punching an upset bid to keep their divisional rival, the Green Bay Packers, out of the playoffs. Now the team appears to want to keep its strong foundation in place for next season.
According to Jeremy Fowler with ESPN, the Lions will extend defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn. He was a head coaching candidate for the Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts this offseason.

The Lions’ defense was suspect in 2022. They were ranked 29th this season for the most yards given up. They gave up the second most points during the regular season, where they averaged letting opponents score an average of 27.5 points per game. However, the Lions’ defense is relatively young. Glenn’s defense should improve as rising star Aidan Hutchinson heads into his second season with the Lions.
