San Francisco 49ers star receiver Deebo Samuel has been officially diagnosed with a hairline fracture in his shoulder and will miss at least the next two games. Even with this timeline, there are multiple people in the comments section saying that he could miss a much more significant amount of time. Samuel was injured in the 49ers’ week six loss to the Cleveland Browns. This news was reported by NFL insider and analyst Adam Schefter via Twitter.

Deebo Samuel Injury
Samuel has not practiced this week and could return to the lineup after the 49ers’ bye week, which will be week 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Head coach Kyle Shanahan addressed the news to reporters earlier this week saying that the X-rays and MRIs did not show anything significant other than the hairline fracture. He also confirmed that the team will not place the star receiver on the injury reserve.
Shanahan told reporters, “We weren’t sure of him throughout the week, so we’ve been had contingency plans as it goes, and he’s been banged up the few weeks before that too. So this will give him a chance to hopefully settle down and come back 100 percent… Deebo’s a pretty unique player. Not many people are like him in the league, so it does change things up, but we’ve got a bunch of good receivers and a bunch of good running backs.”
49ers Banged Up
San Francisco will be going up against the Minnesota Vikings and the Cincinnati Bengals without their star receiver. Quarterback Brock Purdy will have to look elsewhere with the ball and will be targeting Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle much more often. Running back Christian McCaffrey participated in the final practice with the team this week, and he is a game-time decision this Sunday.
