Let’s see who the public is betting on in Week 4 of the NFL season. But first let’s recap the Week 3 favorites.
Week 3 Public Betting Favorites Recap
(Reminder: These are sides or totals that received at least 80 percent of the total bets for that game)
Cincinatti Bengals (Opened -5, Last Wednesday -6): Covered both. Won by 15
Lions/Vikings Over (Opened 50.5, Last Wednesday 51.5): Covered both, barely. Scored 52 points.
The public went 2-0 in Week 3.
Record through 3 weeks: Opening Line: 4-6, Wednesday Line: 4-6
Now let’s look at Week Four’s NFL Public Favorites.
Week 4 Public Betting Favorites
We have just one bet receiving at least 80 percent of the action and it’s a total that probably won’t surprise you: Denver/Las Vegas Under. Given the trouble both offenses have had, the public has placed 83 percent of the bets on the Under. It opened at 46 and is currently 45.5.
Honorable Mention
Much like last week, since there’s only one bet receiving 80 percent or more of the total bets, let’s look at a few others of note (We won’t track these).
The Jets/Steelers Under is receiving 79 percent of the bets. The total opened at 39 and is currently 41.5. It appears that there’s a significant amount of money on the Over. We’ll be sure to look into that for our Vegas Report for Sunday morning.
There are two sides receiving 77 percent of the bets in their respective games: Vikings and Cardinals. The Vikings opened -1.5 and is currently -2.5. The Cardinals opened -1.5 and is currently +1.5 (Possible Sharp Money on the Panthers here).
And we don’t track Money Line bets, but there’s some interesting action to report. 91 percent of the Money Line bets in the Cardinals/Panthers game have been placed on the visiting Cardinals. Much like the spread, even though the percentage of bets greatly favors Arizona, the odds have moved towards Carolina. The Cardinals opened -125 on the ML and are currently +105. Kansas City opened up as underdogs against Tampa Bay but are now the favorites. This may have something to do with Buccaneers having to deal with the hurricane (practice issues, possible location change for the game to Minnesota) and Tampa’s struggles on offense. The Chiefs have received 83 percent of the ML bets in this contest. KC opened +109 underdogs and are currently -117 favorites.
Let’s see if the public can cash their one big ticket this week.
