The Pittsburgh Steelers have been making a lot of noise this offseason. It started with them acquiring veteran QB Russell Wilson. However, when the Steelers acquired Wilson, there was no confirmation as to whether Wilson would be the starter for the team. Now, with the latest Steelers trade being reported, it appears we have an answer to that question.
Kenny Pickett Traded to Philadelphia Eagles
Recently, it was revealed that the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to trade QB Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles. This comes just two years after they selected Pickett in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Plus, Pickett was benched for the wild card game against the Buffalo Bills last season.
Pittsburgh Steelers and Russell Wilson Moving Forward
It appears the Steelers are cleaning house at the quarterback position. Pickett, Mason Rudolph, and Mitchell Trubisky are all no longer on the team. Now, it is up to Russell Wilson to take the Steelers to the promised land.
So, what are the Steelers getting with Wilson? Truthfully, they are getting a quarterback that appears to have one last run left in him. Wilson improved remarkably in 2023 compared to 2022. He had 10 more touchdown passes and three fewer interceptions. He looks to perform even better in 2024 as the nearly confirmed starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers moving forward.
