Davante Adams has been one of the biggest names to look out for before the trade deadline passes. According to an NFL insider, though, the Pittsburgh Steelers may surprise everyone by landing the wide receiver.
Adams remains a pivotal player for the Las Vegas Raiders, but questions about his future are mounting as the NFL season progresses. Acquired from the Green Bay Packers in 2022, Adams quickly established himself as a top receiver, showcasing his exceptional route-running and playmaking ability. However, as the Raiders navigate a challenging season, speculation about potential trades is intensifying.
Adams has expressed a commitment to the Raiders, but with the team’s current trajectory and struggles, his patience may be tested. As a veteran talent, he could attract interest from playoff-contending teams looking to bolster their receiving corps. His impressive track record, including multiple Pro Bowl selections, makes him a desirable asset.
The Raiders’ front office faces a dilemma. While keeping Adams could provide stability and mentorship for younger players, trading him could yield valuable draft picks and help reshape the roster for the future. Additionally, the uncertainty surrounding the team’s quarterback situation adds another layer of complexity. If the Raiders struggle to find a consistent signal-caller, it could further influence Adams’ decision to remain.
NFL Insider Says Pittsburgh Steelers May Land Davante Adams Before Trade Deadline
Apart from the New York Jets, the Steelers may end up with Adams via a trade. According to ESPN’s Dan Graziano, there’s a chance for that to happen.“Davante Adams might prefer to play with Aaron Rodgers on the Jets or Derek Carr on the Saints, but I’m still watching the Steelers as a potential landing spot. They were very active in the Brandon Aiyuk sweepstakes when that was going on this summer, and my understanding is they plan to continue to be aggressive in pursuing wide receiver help.
Their top receiver is George Pickens, whose reduced snap count in Sunday night’s loss is an indication he doesn’t have the full trust of the coaching staff, and they’re ultra-thin behind him. Adams would immediately slot in as their No. 1 wide receiver, and they’ll do what they can to find out if they can get him.
A couple of people — not people connected with the Steelers, just outside observers — suggested the idea of a Pickens-for-Adams trade, and you have to admit it’s interesting,” Graziano wrote.
As the trade deadline approaches, all eyes will be on Adams. It remains to be seen whether the Raiders capitalize on his market value, or will they choose to hold onto their star receiver in hopes of a turnaround.
Ultimately, the next few weeks will be crucial in determining whether Adams stays with the Raiders long-term or becomes a key piece in a trade that could reshape the franchise’s future. If not, expect the Steelers to enter the fray and possibly land the wide receiver soon.
