It remains to be seen whether Justin Fields can beat out Russell Wilson for the Pittsburgh Steelers’ starting quarterback job, but seems to have already found a favorite target in wide receiver George Pickens.
Pickens has quickly developed a reputation as a downfield playmaker with a wide catch radius and once again showed why during a recent Steelers training camp practice.
On a play deep in the red zone, Fields dropped back near the five-yard line and lofted a pass that led Pickens in the corner of the end zone, and the star receiver proceeded to make a circus one-handed grab that underscores what makes him such a matchup nightmare.

Last season, Pickens caught 63 passes for 1,140 yards and five touchdowns while averaging a whopping 18.1 yards per reception.
Whether it is Fields or Pickens behind center for the Steelers this season, Pickens figures to once again play a vital role in the offense.
“I think that’s why we’re here,” Tomlin said. “We’re all carving out our roles and developing our roles specifically. Obviously from a George perspective, he’s got some unique talents and we just want that to show up extremely consistently.”
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Suffers Injury
The Steelers’ offense was dealt a scare, however, when rookie receiver Roman Wilson suffered an ankle injury before being carted off the field and into the locker room.
According to Tomlin, Wilson is undergoing evaluation to determine the severity of the injury.
Prior to getting injured, Wilson was expected to push for the slot receiver role.
