The Pittsburgh Steelers were in the market for a new offensive coordinator. This comes after firing Matt Canada in the middle of the season. Now, recent reports indicate that the Steelers have found their man.
Pittsburgh Steelers Set to Hire Arthur Smith
According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Pittsburgh Steelers are nearly set to hire Arthur Smith as their new offensive coordinator. This comes shortly after Smith was fired as the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. He was the head coach for Atlanta over the last three seasons.
Arthur Smith’s OC Experience
Before becoming the head coach of the Falcons, Smith was the offensive coordinator of the Tennessee Titans for the prior two seasons. Prior to Smith leaving the Titans, he made sure they were in good hands. Tennessee ranked second in rushing yards per game (168.1) during the 2020 NFL season. Plus, the Titans ranked third in total yards per game (396.4) and fourth in points per game (30.7) that same season.
Pittsburgh Steelers Moving Forward
The Steelers had some notable struggles on the offensive side of the ball. One of the worst things they suffered from was taking 11 games to outgain an opponent this past season. Now, they hope to have a little more offensive success next season.
