The Philadelphia Eagles started the 2023-24 season with so much promise. They were the defending NFC champions and won 10 of their first 11 games. However, Philadelphia ended up having an epic collapse to end this once promising season, losing six of their last seven games. It may result in C Jason Kelce calling it quits for his NFL career.
Philadelphia Eagles C Jason Kelce Emotional After 32-9 Loss
There were not many positive things to say about the Philadelphia Eagles in this game. Outside of a 56-yard bomb to WR DeVonta Smith shortly before they scored their only touchdown, Philadelphia was never in this game. Tampa Bay ended the game with 16 unanswered points, starting with a safety.
When the final seconds of the game started to tick down, ESPN had a camera focused on Eagles C Jason Kelce. In this video, you can see Kelce watching from the sidelines filled with disappointment. The video concludes with him holding back tears as he hugs his offensive line coach.
Jason Kelce Retiring?
There is speculation that Jason Kelce could retire at the end of this season. He has played in the NFL for 13 seasons and won Super Bowl LII with the Eagles. At 36 years old, one certainly could question if Kelce has the legs to run it back again after taking a step back this season.
If Kelce were to retire, he has certainly built his media career up to make a smooth transition. He has teamed up with his brother, Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce, to create the “New Heights” podcast. Plus, the brothers starred in the “Kelce” documentary on Amazon. Now, we could Kelce start to focus on his media career full time and wait for his inevitable place in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
