The Tampa Bay Buccaneers once again stepped up to the challenge presented to them. Tonight, they defeated the Philadelphia Eagles by a final score of 32-9. As a result, QB Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers continue their improbable postseason run.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Win 32-9
The Buccaneers got out to an early 10-0 lead in the first quarter. Eagles QB Jalen Hurts tried to fight back when down 16-7 with a 56-yard bomb to WR DeVonta Smith. This led to a 5-yard touchdown pass from Hurts to TE Dallas Goedert. Unfortunately, for the Eagles, they went for a two-point conversion after that and failed.
Tampa Bay’s defense forced Hurts to commit an intentional grounding penalty late in the third quarter that led to a safety. The Buccaneers took advantage of getting the ball back with a 56-yard touchdown pass to Trey Palmer less than a minute later. Tampa Bay scored 16 unanswered points to close out a 32-9 victory.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Doubted
Going into this wild card game, the Buccaneers were home underdogs. However, Baker Mayfield and company were used to being doubted this season. In the preseason, the Buccaneers were expected to come in last place in the NFC South.
Yet, they managed to win the division the year after legendary QB Tom Brady retired. On top of this, the Buccaneers managed to finish with a better record with Baker Mayfield than they had in the 2022-23 NFL season with Brady. Now, the Buccaneers move forward and face the challenge of knocking off a Detroit Lions team coming off an emotional home playoff win.
