The 2023 season for the Philadelphia Eagles was a story of two halves. They dominated the first half of the season, going 10-1 through the first 11 weeks, with wins over the Miami Dolphins, Los Angeles Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, and Dallas Cowboys. However, they lost six of their last seven, including getting spanked 32-9 in last Monday’s Super Wild Card Weekend game against the Bucs. Head coach Nick Sirianni has come under fire during his team’s epic collapse, with Philly fans calling for his job. Star defender Fletcher Cox talked to the media on Wednesday, quickly putting to rest the idea that the team also wants Sirianni out as the Eagles bench boss.
Fletcher Cox gives STRONG endorsement of Nick Sirianni: “Cmon man. What is there to talk about? This man is a winner. He’s a winner HC. Did we have some bumps this year? Yeah. But every team goes through it. But we don’t look at firing a man who has won 10+ games 2 years in a… pic.twitter.com/E6i2gxLJcb

Philadelphia Eagles DT Fletcher Cox: Supports Nick Sirianni
Cox, a one-time All-Pro and six-time Pro-Bowler, spoke to the media on Thursday. When pressed about the job stability of head coach Nick Sirianni, he said, “C’mon, man. What is there to talk about? This man is a winner. He’s a winning HC. Did we have some bumps this year? Yeah. But every team goes through it. But we don’t look at firing a man who has won 10+ games 2 years in a row. That has taken this organization to three playoff appearances three years in a row. Have some respect. He’s a good leader for this team and does a really good job.”
Sirianni and the Eagles posted a 9-8 record during his first season in 2021 before leading the organization to a 14-win campaign the following year. Philadelphia made the Super Bowl, losing a heartbreaker to the Kansas City Chiefs, 38-35. The Eagles won 11 games this season but struggled to close out the season before losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round of the postseason.
Cox continued, “Did we come short? Yeah. Did things happen this year? Yeah.” The Eagles fell apart offensively to end the season, with quarterback Jalen Hurts struggling to match last season’s output. Hurts threw a career-worst 15 interceptions, more than double last season’s total. He also threw for only 150 more passing yards despite 78 more pass attempts.
Fletcher Cox: Longtime Eagle
Cox, the 12th overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft, has spent his 12-year career with the Philadelphia Eagles. He registered five sacks and three TFLs this season. His 33 tackles were his lowest output since 2017. He recovered a fumble and had 17 QB hits.
