The spring transfer portal opened on Monday, meaning players who didn’t enter the winter portal and went through spring practices can now enter the new one. Penn State saw one of its best players enter the portal on Monday.
Penn State Needs To Have A Big Year
Penn State is gearing up for a pivotal 2024 season. The team still sees the success of their Big Ten rivals, Michigan, who won the National Championship, and Ohio State, who retained most of their players from last year’s team. The Nittany Lions, who have been playing second fiddle to Michigan and Ohio State for years, now face the added challenge of Oregon, USC, UCLA, and Washington joining the Big Ten in 2024. This makes the loss of a key player even more significant.
KeAndre Lambert-Smith Is Heading To The Portal
Penn State will face the new Big Ten without one of its best players. On Monday, Pete Nakos from On3.com stated that wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith has officially entered the transfer portal.

Rumors were floating around last week that Lambert-Smith would enter the portal, but it looks like it became official on Monday.
Lamber-Smtih has 1,721 career receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in his career and will be a massive addition to any team’s wide receiving core for this upcoming season.
The Big Ten Will Be The Best Conference In College Football In 2024
You never want to see one of your players leave for the portal, and a team like Penn State can only afford to see players leave their team. The Nittany Lions don’t have talent like Ohio State, USC, and Oregon, and losing one of your talented guys will hurt the team a lot. I don’t see the Nittany Lions making the new 12-team college football playoff in 2024, but they could be a team that threatens to make it until the end.
