The New England Patriots must have one of the most fascinating dynamics in all of sports. Obviously they were an absurdly dominant dynasty that held a stranglehold over the NFL Playoffs for almost 20 years but their head coach Bill Belichick has been described as unemotional. You would think that after his team finally captured a huge win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, the notoriously unfeeling coach would finally crack a smile.
Patriots QB Celebrates after Win
So lets establish the setting: New England has struggled mightily this season under the influence of first-round pick quarterback Mac Jones. New England has struggled substantially to score many points and fresh starter at the quarterback position Bailey Zappe had a terrific game against Pittsburgh, leading them to their third win of the season.
Understandably, the young quarterback was over the moon after certainly the best performance of his career to date. Following the game, a video shows him going into the locker room and celebrating with his offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien. Zappe is incredibly enthusiastic until he sees his head coach enter the room when all of a sudden, you’d think that Zappe was asking Belichick if he were taking his daughter to the prom. The full video can be seen below:
The difference between how Zappe greeted O’Brien and then Belichick after Thursday’s win is just so good.
O’Brien? Like he’s one of the boys.
Belichick? Like he’s Zappe’s military father-in-law who will never forgive Zappe for not asking for his blessing.

While this has been a horrible season for the legendary New England coach, it might be worth it for him to try to enjoy the moment to build the confidence of his young quarterback. New England will finish the season and look to draft an elite quarterback with a high draft pick heading into the 2024 NFL Season.
