Green Bay Packers Wide Receivers Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs missed Wednesday’s practice heading into their Week 1 matchup against the Chicago Bears. The injury to Watson remains undisclosed, but his health is now worth monitoring heading into the start of the NFL season. Meanwhile, Doubs is known to be dealing with a hamstring injury. The 23-year-old’s status is much more in the air heading into the Week 1 tilt.

Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs: Outlook heading into 2023
Christian Watson, a second-round pick out of North Dakota State in 2022, posted 611 yards and seven scores on 41 receptions last season. Watson projects to be the #1 option for first-year starting quarterback Jordan Love. Meanwhile, Doubs, also a draft selection in the 2022 draft, hauled in 42 receptions for 425 yards and three scores last year. Doubs started his Green Bay career strong, snagging 19 passes for 184 yards and two scores in his first four games as a rookie. Watson and Doubs were two of the five Packers’ pass catchers to eclipse 400 yards receiving last year.
How the Watson and Doubs news affects QB Jordan Love
Jordan Love will enter his third professional season and his first as the lead signal caller in Green Bay. The six-foot-four gunslinger was the 26th overall pick out of Utah State in 2020 and has sat behind future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers over the past two seasons. He has thrown for 606 yards and three scores against three picks in limited action leading up to the start of the 2023 campaign.
The loss of Romeo Doubs or Christian Watson would make Love’s job on Sunday against the Bears harder than anticipated. The Packers already house one of the youngest receiving rooms in the NFL, and the absence of Doubs or Watson would immediately test the new crop of Packers pass catchers. Jayden Reed, Malik Heath, and Dontayvion Wicks, all rookies, would be in line to fill the void Romeo Doubs or Christian Watson would leave if either were to sit on Sunday.
