Nix will join fellow senior gunslingers Spencer Rattler, Joe Milton III, and Michael Pratt as the latest to accept their Senior Bowl invites. Rattler, the former top recruit in the class of 2019, threw 19 touchdowns to eight picks for the South Carolina Gamecocks this season. Milton threw 20 touchdowns and ran for seven scores for the Tennessee Volunteers. Meanwhile, Pratt tossed at least 20 touchdowns and less than nine picks in all four of his seasons with the Tulane Green Wave.
Oregon Ducks QB Bo Nix: Excellent College Career
Nix began his career with the Auburn Tigers in 2019, throwing for 2,542 yards and 16 touchdowns against six picks as a true freshman. He also added seven scores on the ground. The Tigers finished the season 9-4 after falling to the Minnesota Golden Gophers 31-24 in the Outback Bowl. The Arkansas native earned SEC Freshman of the Year honors.
Nix returned to Auburn in 2020 but saw a downtick in production. He finished his sophomore campaign with 2,415 yards passing and 12 touchdowns against seven picks. He again struggled to take another step forward in 2021, throwing for a career-low 2,294 yards and 11 touchdowns with three interceptions. Nix entered the transfer portal, leaving for the Oregon Ducks of the Pac-12.
Nix shined in his first season under head coach Dan Lanning, throwing for a then-career-high 3,593 yards and 29 touchdowns with seven picks. He completed 72% of his passes, leading Oregon to a spectacular 10-3 record. Nix added another 510 yards and 14 scores via the ground. The signal-caller burned his COVID-19 eligibility waiver in 2023, returning to Eugene for one last season. Nix set the NCAA record for the highest completion percentage this season at 77.5% while throwing for 4,508 yards, 45 touchdowns, and three picks. He led the Ducks to a Fiesta Bowl victory over the Liberty Flames. Nix finished third in the Heisman Trophy Award ballot, behind winner Jayden Daniels and runner-up Michael Penix Jr.
Senior Bowl: Postseason College Football All-Star Game
Nix will participate in the 2024 Senior Bowl. The all-star game is played annually in Mobile, Alabama, and features some of the best NFL draft prospects who have completed their college eligibility. The Senior Bowl started in 1950, and some of the NFL’s brightest stars have taken center stage. Dallas Cowboys star Dak Prescott, Los Angeles Chargers signal-caller Justin Herbert, and Philadelphia Eagles Pro Bowl defensive end Brandon Graham have won game MVP. Former NFL stars LaDainian Tomlinson, Antwaan Randle El, Thurman Thomas, Larry Johnson, Matt Forte, and Phillip Rivers have also won the Senior Bowl MVP.
