The Oklahoma Sooners have consistently been one of the best programs in college football. As with many top college football programs, some highly recruited players simply can’t climb the depth chart and end up transferring out. Former top-90 recruit Kelvin Gilliam Jr. announced he is entering the transfer portal.

Oklahoma Sooners DL Kelvin Gilliam Jr. Enters Transfer Portal
Gilliam Jr. is a redshirt sophomore and in his three years with the Sooners simply couldn’t find a way to get consistent playing time on the field. He has 10 total tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss in his career. The talented defensive lineman will try and get a fresh start with another program. He still has two years of eligibility remaining meaning he has plenty of time to show off his skills with another program.
Getting Prepared For The SEC
A move to the SEC means that there are more top-tier opponents on the schedule. Ole Miss, Alabama, Texas, LSU, and Missouri are all on the schedule for next season. It definitely is not going to be easy to win the conference but if they do, it will definitely be well-earned. Brent Venables will have his hands full trying to replenish the talent on this roster. The most important piece is a new quarterback after Dillon Gabriel entered the portal earlier this week.
Can the Oklahoma Sooners make some noise in the SEC? They have some work to do but have proven they can put a winning product on the field.
