The Oklahoma Sooners are preparing for their move to the SEC in 2024. They know that this conference has some of college football’s best and they will need to have all the talent they can get. While many are lamenting the loss of players through the portal, the Sooners can now celebrate a commitment. Former Michigan State offensive tackle Spencer Brown has committed to playing for the Sooners in 2024.

Oklahoma Sooners Land OT Spencer Brown
There weren’t many bright spots in the Michigan State offense in 2023 but Brown was one of them. According to PFF, the tackle graded out at 61.5 on offense with a 63.7 pass-block grade and a 60.7 run-block grade. The 6-foot-6, 310-pound tackle is going to be a huge help to the offensive line. Brown said this in a statement on why he chose the Sooners.
“I wanted to become a part of one of the blue bloods of college football. I feel as if coach Venables and coach Bedenbaugh are tremendous coaches and can make me an overall better player, teammate, and person off of the field.”
This is a huge win for the Sooners as they try and remake their offensive line. A couple of their stars on the line are graduating and heading for the NFL Draft so Brown gives them a great anchor for their line.
SEC Schedule
Oklahoma is going to need to make sure they have the trenches taken care of. Next season, they have to play Alabama, Texas, Auburn, and LSU who often have some talented pass-rushers on the roster. Even the non-conference schedule features Tulane who has had back-to-back solid years. Oklahoma will no doubt be very active in the transfer portal and this is likely the first of many signings out of the portal.
It is a new era of Oklahoma Sooners football. The program would love to come in and show that they are one of the best programs in the country and dominate the SEC. If they keep getting commitments like this, that shouldn’t be an issue.
