Next fall will signal a new era for Oklahoma football, in which the storied program will compete in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) for the first time. After nearly a century in the Big 12 (also known as the Big 6, Big 7, and Big 8), the Sooners will transition to the hyper-competitive SEC alongside longtime rival Texas. Offseason questions revolve around Oklahoma’s readiness to move to the SEC, the same conference that houses college football powers Georgia and Alabama, continue to swirl. However, one defender inside the Sooners locker room, Billy Bowman, is ready for the challenge.

Oklahoma’s football program will compete in the SEC starting in 2024. The SEC has won the College Football Playoff four of the past five seasons and has never once missed the four-team playoff field.
Bowman continued, “It’s hard to win any conference, to be honest. Then again, we just taking steps continually towards starting in the SEC this year. Right now, we are focused on spring ball. We will continue to hit the ground with whatever is in front of us.”
