The Ohio State Buckeyes have made a change to their 2025 non-conference schedule by dropping its contest against the UConn Huskies on October 18, 2025, and adding a matchup against the Grambling State Tigers on September 6, 2025. The Buckeyes will now open the season with three straight home games.

Ohio State Will Play Grambling State On September 6, 2025
The Ohio State Buckeyes will now play the Grambling State Tigers in week 2 on September 6, 2025. This will be the first matchup ever between the two schools. From a competitive standpoint, this change serves no significance as Ohio State would be massive favorites versus Uconn or Grambling State.
The Buckeyes will now start the season with three straight home games. This will also open a slot later in the season on October 18, 2025, for a Big 10 conference game.
This matchup will give Grambling State a unique opportunity to experience a big-time college football stadium and crowd, while also getting some national TV exposure.
Other Ohio State Non-Conference Games in 2025
The rest of Ohio State’s non-conference games appear to have stayed the same. The Buckeyes will open the season in a massive matchup against the Texas Longhorns on August 30, 2025. The other non-conference game for the Buckeyes is an in-state matchup versus the Ohio Bobcats on September 13, 2025.
