Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has a lot of questions to answer after losing to Michigan for the third straight year. Over the course of the game, Michigan simply looked like the more aggressive team despite being coached by an interim coach due to the Jim Harbaugh suspension. One former player, linebacker Joshua Perry, called out Day for his pregame speech.

Ex-Ohio State Player Joshua Perry Rips Ryan Day
His speech trying to fire up his players didn’t really seem to be working. It didn’t seem to work during the game either. The Buckeyes came out flat as Michigan jumped out to a 14-3 lead. While the Buckeyes tied it up throughout the game, they never took the lead. Michigan simply looked like the team that wanted it more. The Wolverines had a lot to play for as they were looking to prove that they were one of the best teams in the nation even without their head coach.
Will Day Survive?
These are the reasons that fans want Day fired. It isn’t necessary to get fired up for a game against Purdue or Rutgers. The glut of talent that they have eventually wins out. Where Day runs into trouble is when he needs his team to be fired up. Games against Michigan or ones in the College Football Playoff need some motivation from the coach. This is the reason that Day would be removed but it is unclear whether the school will actually do anything.
The Buckeyes have some big decisions to make. One thing is for sure. Something needs to change because this fan base is not used to losing to Michigan.
