Ohio State Buckeyes: Ohio State Has A New SEC Rival Who They Have Never Played Before In School History That Could Be A Bigger Threat To Them Than Michigan

Ohio State is one of the best programs in college football, and when you’re one of the greats, everyone wants to try to take you down and become one of your rivals.

The Buckeyes have the biggest rivalry in college football between them and Michigan, but Ohio State is about to find themselves a new rival they have never even played before.

Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Devin Brown (33) hands off to Quinshon Judkins (1) for the scarlet team during the first half of the LifeSports spring football game at Ohio Stadium on Saturday.

This offseason, the Buckeyes went into the transfer portal and took Ole Miss running back Quinshon Judkins while also spending a lot of NIL money on current players and players they got from the portal.

There were reports that Ohio State spent around $20 million in NIL this offseason, which would be a boatload, and a current SEC coach has called them out a few times on social media because of it.

While Ohio State has had its fair share of games between SEC schools like Alabama and Georgia, the biggest rival they might get from the conference is a team they might not have to see this season unless they meet in the college football playoff, which would be Ole Miss.

Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin has posted articles on his social media page multiple times this offseason that link the Buckeyes spending $20 million in NIL and even stated that money is on the high end from what he has heard what other programs spend on NIL.

Judkins also got in on the new Buckeyes vs Rebels rivalry, stating after he played his first game against Akron at Ohio State’s Stadium, “Over 100,000 fans. Being at Ole Miss, I only got to see that at away games.”

Quinshon Judkins on his Ohio State debut:

Judkins was not thrilled with his time at Ole Miss because he had taken a shot at their fans out of nowhere.

There is something crazy going on between both programs. Ohio State fans should be taking Ole Miss as a serious rival than Michigan this season because the Rebels have a team that could win the title and knock off the Buckeyes in the playoffs if the two schools meet.

Michigan is looking at an eight—or nine-win schedule, and Ohio State should be able to manage them at home this year without a problem.

Seeing these two schools meet in a college football playoff game will be interesting. There has been so much bad blood between them in the last few months that nobody saw coming.
