Nick Bosa and the San Francisco 49ers will take on the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl for the second time in 4 years. The last time these two matched up for the Lombardi trophy was back in 2020, where Kansas City defeated the 49ers with a score of 31-20.
Multiple Players From 2020 Super Bowl Making Appearance This Year
While the 49ers have some new faces including Brock Purdy and Christian McCaffrey, there are multiple returning players who matched up in the last Super Bowl. One of them being former Defensive Player of the Year winner Nick Bosa who made a big impact with 2 sacks and 2 tackles for loss in last Sunday’s win versus the Detroit Lions.

Ahead of next Sunday’s game, Bosa had some comments about the Chiefs and their offensive line when asked in an interview claiming that “they hold a lot”. Bosa was specifically referencing the Chiefs tackles in Donovan Smith and Juwaan Taylor, who he will be matching up against in this year’s Super Bowl.
Taylor leads all other players with the most penalties committed in the NFL this season with 17. 8 of these penalties are false start calls and 6 have been for holding, which is just behind Rashawn Slater for the most holding calls in the league.
Bosa and the 49ers Seek Revenge From 2020 Super Bowl Loss to Chiefs
After defeating Detroit in the NFC Championship game last Sunday, Bosa looked forward to the Super Bowl rematch that left San Francsico heartbroken a few years ago.
It’s perfect. It’s perfect and there as good of an organization, coach, quarterback as there is. They were down, not looking great this year either and they’re playing their best ball now. So, it’s going to be a big challenge.”
While the Chiefs were able to take home the Lombardi trophy in 2020, these two rosters are filled with different players and personnel. Both teams are playing their best football heading into this year’s Super Bowl and it will be a challenge for either side to pull away.
Bosa and the 49ers will have their opportunity at revenge when both teams travel to Allegiant Stadium for this year’s Super Bowl next Sunday. Coverage will begin at 6:30 PM Eastern Time on CBS.
