Former Seattle Seahawks star Richard Sherman was recently arrested due to suspicion of a DUI charge over the weekend. Among those who have voiced their concern and disappointment is ex-NFL tight end and ESPN NBA analyst Shannon Sharpe.
According to a court document, Sherman was apprehended by the Washington State Patrol for overspeeding at around 2 AM in Bellevue. The former NFL cornerback reportedly said that he had only two margaritas to authorities who arrested him.
The document added that Sherman’s eyes were bloodshot while reeking of alcohol. He was then arrested by the authorities and booked at the King Country Correctional Facility.
The judge handling Sherman’s case set the NFL star’s bail at $5,000 and ordered him not to consume products with alcohol, cannabis, or prescribed drugs before the following hearing set this week.
During his 11 years playing in the NFL, Sherman won the Super Bowl in 2014 as part of the Seattle Seahawks. At present, he is an analyst for Amazon Prime’s NFL coverage.
Shannon Sharpe Drops Disappointed Take On Former NFL Star Richard Sherman’s DUI Arrest
In an episode of his Nightcap podcast, Sharpe expressed his disappointment and concern over Sherman’s arrest:
“For Sherm to put himself back in harm’s way and to potentially bring others, that’s what I’m most disappointed in. Because he knows better. You brought every other car that’s on the road into the equation. We always say what didn’t happen, but then when it does happen, ‘Thoughts and prayers.’ Thoughts and prayers ain’t help nobody. I know Sherm. And I just hate that he put himself back in this situation,” Sharpe said.
Back in 2022, Sherman pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges based on drunken driving and a domestic disturbance. From there, the ex-Seahawks star received a 90-day sentence and two years of monitored supervision, which is still ongoing.
Sharpe added that Sherman should worry less about his career and focus on getting help for himself and his family. The Denver Broncos legend also said that the former cornerback is better than this.
