While eyes are still zeroed in on Super Bowl LVIII, the NFL Honors Night is about to happen. The league’s biggest names will be gathered to celebrate the 2023 season, and people will be interested to know who the MVP will be.
Many believe Lamar Jackson is the runaway winner of the prestigious award after leading the Baltimore Ravens to one of the more impressive regular seasons in recent memory.
However, it seems that there’s one field general who might stop him from getting his second MVP award, and it’s not someone who’ll be playing for the Lombardi trophy.
Josh Allen tipped as dark horse to win NFL MVP
During the latest episode of The Carton Show, Craig Carton revealed that he was made aware that Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen may steal Jackson’s thunder after enjoying an equally dominant performance during the voting period for the award.

It’s important to note that the voting period for the MVP awards was finished before the playoffs started, so the performances by the two QBs during the 2023 postseason didn’t have a huge impact on how the voting happened for all of the MVP candidates.
The 27-year-old QB may not have led the Buffalo Bills to the AFC’s top seed, but he was in a class of his own during the regular season. He finished his 2023 regular-season campaign with 4306 passing yards, 29 passing touchdowns, and 18 interceptions. His 66.5% completion rate and dominant play during the voting period may have swayed some voters to pick him over Allen.
However, the award is still Jackson’s to lose. Aside from leading the Ravens to a 13-4 record, he had 3678 passing yards, 24 passing TDs, 821 rushing yards, and 5 rushing TDs. He was a dynamic offensive weapon who most NFL defenses didn’t have answers to.
But until the award is formally given to someone, the MVP race is still a four-horse race.
