Pat McAfee is one of the most recognizable names in sports media right now. He has a proposition for star defensive player TJ Watt. McAfee recently said on his show that he will donate half a million dollars to charity if Watt breaks this NFL record.
Pat McAfee Wants TJ Watt To Break Records In 2023
It is actually a record that Watt already co-owns. His 22.5 sacks in 2021 ties Michael Strahan for most all-time in one season. McAfee wants Watt to be the sole owner of the record. If Watt can break it, he will get to choose where the large sum of money goes. The biggest issue that has hindered Watt in the past is health. He often gets injured and is out for an extended period of time. If he can play a full 17-game season, there is little doubt that Watt can a least flirt with the record.
Steelers Expectations In 2023
The preseason has gotten the hype train going. Quarterback Kenny Pickett and wide receiver George Pickens look primed for a year-two leap. Najee Harris is healthy again and the offensive line has improved. The defense is full of studs and rookies like Nick Herbig look to make a difference right away. While the AFC North is tough, the Steelers are always in the mix for a playoff spot thanks to Mike Tomlin. This is a team that may surprise some people in 2023.
I’m not sure TJ Watt needs the extra motivation from Pat McAfee but anytime money gets donated to charity, it is a good thing. It will be fun to see if Watt can break the record and become the sole owner of the single-season sack record.
