Current Pittsburgh Steelers, and former 2nd overall pick, Mitch Trubisky could have a chance to crush the Haters in Week 5. Starting quarterback Kenny Pickett suffered a bone bruise against the Houston Texans. There is a possibility that Kenny Pickett might play against the Baltimore Ravens. Expect Trubisky to play if Pickett can’t make it.
The Pittsburgh Steelers backup didn’t play much at college

Trubisky played college football at North Carolina. Trubisky was the backup quarterback behind Marquise Williams in his first two seasons. He had an opportunity to start for North Carolina in his third season. Trubisky led North Carolina to an 8-5 record, passing for 3,748 yards with a 68% completion percentage, 8.4 yards per attempt, 30 passing touchdowns, and six interceptions.
The Bears took a chance on Trubisky

The Chicago Bears traded up one spot to draft Mitch Trubisky 2nd overall in the 2017 NFL draft, passing on Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson. The Bears drafted him because Bears’ GM Ryan Pace felt Trubisky could be as efficient as Drew Brees.
Chicago started free agent acquisition Mike Glennon in the first four games of his rookie season. Chicago benched Glennon after he went 1-3. Trubisky finished the season 4-8, throwing for 2,193 yards with a 59.4% completion percentage, 6.6 yards per attempt, seven touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
The Bears fired Head Coach John Fox after the 2017 season. Kansas City Chiefs Offensive Coordinator Matt Nagy replaced John Fox as Head Coach. The Bear addressed the offense during the offseason, signing wide receivers Allen Robinson and Taylor Gabriel and tied end Michael Burton.
The Bears clinched their division with a 12-4 record. Trubisky missed two games because of a shoulder injury. Trubisky had his best season throwing for 3,223 yards with a 66.6% completion percentage, 7.4 yards per attempt, 24 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Trubisky also had 68 rushes for 421 yards and three rushing touchdowns. He made the Pro Bowl as an alternate.
Chicago missed the playoffs in his third season. Trubisky went 8-7 as the starting quarterback. Trubisky threw for 3,138 passing yards with a 63.2% completion percentage, 6.1 yards per attempt, 17 passing touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. The Bears traded for Nick Foles in the offseason. Chicago declined Trubisky’s 5th-year option.
Trubisky beat Nick Foles for the starting job to start the season. Trubisky would get benched by Nick Foles in Chicago’s Week 3 comeback win against the New York Giants. Trubisky played in Week 8 against the New Orleans Saints in the wildcat formation. Trubisky hurt his shoulder on that play, missing a few games.
Nick Foles injured his hip, and Trubisky was named the starter in Week 12 against the Green Bay Packers. Trubisky would finish the rest of the season as the starting quarterback, making the playoffs. Trubisky was 6-3, throwing for 2,055 yards with a 67% completion percentage, 6.9 yards per attempt, 16 passing touchdowns, and eight interceptions.
The Buffalo Bills signed Trubisky to be Josh Allen’s backup

The Buffalo Bills signed Mitch Trubisky to a 1-year, $2.5 million contract to backup Josh Allen for the 2021 season. Trubisky started in zero games and was 6/8 for 43 yards and one interception. The Buffalo Bills decided not to bring Trubisky back.
Trubisky’s tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers and Mitch Trubisky agreed to a 2-year, $14.2 million contract in 2022. Trubisky beat 1st round picks Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph for the starting job. Trubisky got benched by Kenny Pickett in Week 4 against the New York Jets. Trubisky filled in for Kenny Pickett when he suffered a concussion in Week 15. In his first season with the Steelers, Trubisky was 117/180, throwing for 1,252 yards with a 65% completion percentage, 7 yards per attempt, four touchdowns, and five interceptions.
The Pittsburgh Steelers and Trubisky agreed to a 2-year extension to remain the backup. Trubisky will make $19.4 million for the next three years. He has the potential to earn $33 million in incentives. Now it’s Trubisky’s time to shine if Kenny Pickett isn’t available in Week 5.
