NFL Player Banned From Ever Owning Cats Or Dogs Following Arrest For Animal Cruelty

There is one NFL player who will no longer be able to ever own certain animals after being arrested for animal cruelty. While the ban could be for his life time it can also be until the end of his sentence.

Now, free agent defensive tackle Isaiah Buggs has been convicted on multiple charges of misdemeanor animal cruelty per WVTM 13. This week he suffered the sentence of “365 days of hard labor, serving 60 with the remaining 300-plus days suspended pending good behavior.”

Lions defensive end Isaiah Buggs stretches before minicamp on Thursday, June 8, 2023, in Allen Park.

In addition to that sentencing, Buggs will also not be permitted to own any cats or dogs, as well as not possess or be around any firearms. His business as well in Tuscaloosa has been suspended after all of this, though it was reported that the business already shut down anyway.

In the report, it stated that Buggs will indeed appeal the sentence. It all started when police discovered several dogs at a home that was rented by Buggs, in which the dogs appeared to have been abused. Specifically they found a Rottweiler that was locked in a cage without access to any food or water, and they found a Pitbull that was covered in feces, perhaps his own.

The Rottweiler was able to be treated but the Pitbull had to be euthanized. Following this, the Kansas City Chiefs released Buggs last month. Buggs was on the team last year and was a part of their Super Bowl run winning a ring with the team. After his release however, it seems unlikely that he will get another chance in the NFL.

NFL fans though Buggs should have been cut a long time ago however, as they felt the Chiefs should have cut him much sooner after the multiple arrests.

“So, at what point does the organization sit down with the team and talk to them about conduct on and off the field? Doesn’t seem like they’ve had that conversation. Like…at all. They represent more than just the logo. Get these clowns out,” one person said.

“You can cut him at any time, Veach. Was on the Lions all season, hasn’t played a snap for the Chiefs since he just signed in January… All he’s done is bring bad press, and if this is true, this is absolutely horrible,” another person said.

“Cut him right now,” a third fan wrote.

Fans are happy that the team finally decided to cut ties with the player. We will see if Buggs can get another chance in the NFL, but it is highly unlikely at this point.
