The New York Jets were finally able to sign former Vikings running back Dalvin Cook after months of negotiations. While second-year player Breece Hall looks to be recovering well from his ACL injury, Cook gives them a proven back. When asked about the 2023 season, Cook had a painfully obvious answer.
New York Jets Dalvin Cook On 2023 Season
Cook was asked by the New York Post on Monday whether he believes the team can finally bring a Super Bowl to this franchise.
“I think it’s very realistic. Obviously you look at the roster, you look at the people we’ve added and the things that we already had, just combining that in one, and I think it’s something to be excited about. We just gotta go out there and do our part.”
“That’s why I came, that’s why I’m here, to help any way I can to get to where we need to go, and that’s holding up the trophy, and that’s what we’re trying to do.”
I would hope that a Super Bowl would be realistic! A team that trades (likely) multiple first-round picks for an aging quarterback in Aaron Rodgers and brings in veterans like Cook should be competing for a Super Bowl. If they aren’t, it is complete mismanagement of a team.
Can They Actually Win?
The short answer is yes. There is enough talent on the roster on both sides of the ball. The team is not without questions. The offensive line has been the talk of the preseason. It seems to have been solved with the addition of Duane Brown off the PUP but they seem very susceptible to being hit hard if injuries happen. The team is counting on Sauce Gardner and many other rookies to continue to improve. This might happen or a sophomore slump could happen. The AFC East is full of good teams and the Jets might have trouble with the gauntlet of tough teams. There are so many variables that it is tough to predict how any team will do.
Dalvin Cook would not have signed with the New York Jets if he didn’t think they could win a Super Bowl. The season is less than two weeks away and the Jets have a tough one right out of the gate.
