After it was revealed that the Indianapolis Colts gave Jonathan Taylor permission to seek a trade away from the team, reports also emerged about the team giving him until Tuesday to find an amenable deal. Well, as it turns out, the Colts were dead serious about that deadline.

REPORT: Colts NOT Trading Jonathan Taylor

The said cutoff date, which also coincides with the NFL’s deadline for teams to cut down their rosters to 53 players, has now come and gone. Unfortunately for Taylor, the Colts did not find an acceptable trade offer, which has now led the team to make a rather unexpected decision on the All-Pro running back’s status with the team.

League insider Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Colts are now keeping Jonathan Taylor:

“No deal: Indianapolis did not find what it felt was a fair-value offer for Jonathan Taylor and it is not trading its All-Pro running back today, league sources tell ESPN.

With no trade materializing today, Taylor now is expected to remain on the Physically Unable to Perform List, making him ineligible to play the first four games of the season. Taylor now is expected to miss games vs. the Jaguars, at Houston, at Baltimore and vs. the Rams,” Schefter wrote.

According to reports, the Colts were asking for a first-round pick in exchange for their star running back, and it seems that in spite of significant interest from a handful of teams, none of them were able to meet Indianapolis’ lofty demands.

For what it’s worth, the NFL’s trade deadline is on October 31. Taylor might be staying in Indianapolis for now, but this doesn’t necessarily mean that he will be ending the season with the Colts. We shall see how this situation pans out in the coming months.
