With the 2024 NFL Draft less than 72 hours away, teams are getting closer to being on the clock, and meetings with players are officially over. It will now be up to the front offices to make a decision on who will represent their future.
This year’s class is loaded with quarterback talent and at least four of those options are expected to be off the board after day one. However, one NFL insider believes that there could be even more taken within the first 32 picks.
NFL Insider Believes Multiple Teams Will Make Early Push for QB Option

When asked about how many quarterbacks could be off the board after the first round on the Dan Patrick Show, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero expressed that this year’s class could have six quarterbacks selected on day one.
“Right now, sitting here, I would say six quarterbacks go in round one. That is in part because this is a unique class, where, if you get beyond the first six, arguably seven because there are people who have Spencer Rattler in their top six. Some people have him ahead of Michael Penix. There’s really not a whole lot of other guys… You got more teams right now that need quarterbacks than there are quarterbacks to be taken.”
The first three picks of the draft are expected to be quarterback selections. USC standout Caleb Williams is projected to go number one overall to the Chicago Bears with Jayden Daniels most likely following suit as a Washington Commander with the next pick. The New England Patriots have the third pick and are expected to take a quarterback, but could trade back and give someone else an opportunity to grab one.
The Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders are teams also in the hunt for a quarterback and could trade up to do so. Minnesota has already acquired the 23rd pick from the Houston Texans to boost their odds. All six franchises could go quarterback in round one depending on how trade scenarios play out.
2024 Draft Class Would Tie NFL Record if 6 Quarterbacks are Selected in 1st Round

If six quarterbacks are selected on day one of this year’s draft, it would tie an NFL record for the most quarterbacks ever taken in the first round. The last time this happened was in 1983 and has yet to occur in 51 years. John Elway, Dan Marino and Jim Kelly were all taken in this draft class and now hold spots in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
