As the NFL Draft is just hours away, one insider believes that he knows who the New England Patriots will select at No. 3 in the first round. It is no secret that the team needs a quarterback, and Albert Breer revealed on Wednesday that he knows which quarterback the team will get at their pick.
NFL Insider Albert Breer Predicts How Top 3 Picks Will Go
NFL Insider and Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer revealed how he thinks the top picks of the 2024 NFL Draft will go down in an Instagram video.
Breer said there’s “no question” the Chicago Bears will start the draft by picking Caleb Williams and feels “almost as certain” that the Washington Commanders will select Jayden Daniels at No. 2.
Initially, Breer thought that the Patriots “all along” would get Drake Maye at No. 3 overall, but he thought the Patriots would trade that pick to the highest bidder and then look for a quarterback later on in the draft.
The organization has been very vocal about trading the pick for the right compensation, and that they will entertain every offer carefully. Breer however, has changed his view about that and thinks New England will stay put at 3 and get the North Carolina quarterback.
“I now feel pretty good that he’s going to be a New England Patriot,” Breer said of Maye.
Drake Maye Hints At Wanting To Play For The New England Patriots
Maye revealed that he also has “an idea” of where he will end up in this years draft. During a Wednesday interview on The Dan Patrick Show, Maye said he is pretty sure where he is going to end up on Thursday night. He hinted to the team by saying that he does not mind to play in cold weather.
The Patriots are in desperate need for a franchise quarterback after trading Mac Jones this off season. Some analysts have suggested that the team wants J.J. McCarthy and would trade down and select him, but Breer thinks that is not an option for the team. The teams decision may just come down to who is available between Jayden Daniels and Maye at No 3 overall.
“Such a historic program and team and history up there in New England,” Maye said after meeting with the Patriots last month. “So just getting the chance to know them, get to know what they’re about and their champion mindset of getting back to the glory days has been cool,”
