Would Drake Maye Be the Pick At 6 For the New York Giants If Available?

North Carolina Tar Heels quarterback Drake Maye and the New York Giants could be a perfect match for each other when the NFL Draft occurs on Thursday night. New York has the sixth pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and there will be a lot of wait-and-see approach from the Giants front office.

Maye can be drafted anywhere between two and six in the 2024 NFL Draft. There are a lot of teams that are interested in drafting him. A lot of the smoke screens will finally be over on Thursday night. It is unknown which quarterback will be named second after Caleb Williams on Thursday night.

Drake Maye may have the most talent outside of Williams at the next level. However, teams will want J.J. McCarthy or Jayden Daniels instead of Maye. A lot of variables could happen because other teams can very well trade up for most likely a quarterback, but there might be a chance someone may trade up for a wide receiver.

Drake Maye Will Probably Be the Pick At 6 For the New York Giants If He Still On the Board

If Maye is still available for the Giants at number six, there is a very good chance that they are going to draft him. Drake Maye is the kind of quarterback that head coach Brian Daboll would love to mold. He has similar features to what Josh Allen has now with the Buffalo Bills.

There have been criticisms from others about Maye in the past, but will see if it is all a smokescreen or not. With the Giants potentially making this move, it would reset the quarterback clock for the franchise. The question then becomes, what happens to players like Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, and Tommy DeVito?

That would be the multi-billion dollar question. Would Maye also be the Week 1 starter for the New York Giants if drafted despite general manager Joe Schoen saying all offseason that Daniel Jones is the Week 1 starter for next season?

That is also something that remains to be seen because of the injuries that Jones has suffered throughout his career with the neck and the Torn ACL. If Jones did not play at all in 2024, would Drew Lock start? Lock did start a few games last season for the Seattle Seahawks. If the New York Giants do draft Drake Maye, a lot of fans will be excited and it will signal that the Daniel Jones era is all but over despite the contract they gave him last offseason also.
