NFL Fantasy owners know starting running backs are few. Thats why picking up break out players before your opponents do is key to championships. Whether it’s through injury or slow starts, these fantasy backs will still come through for you as the season progresses.
James Conner
Many fantasy owners took Arizona Cardinals James Conner with the ambition he will play even better than last season. Currently #6 is ranked 15th among eligible running backs while battling injuries. Without Chase Edmonds taking carries, Conner will still have a top ten year if he can stay on the field.
Arizonas offense will face middle tier defenses at best these next few weeks that should be confidence boosters. Starting this Sunday against the Carolina Panthers who are coming off their most dominant defensive performance.
Javonte Williams
If you drafted Javonte Williams before the third round raise your hand? If you joined me in spirit then I can promise you Williams will be top 5 in rushing yards by Week 12. I believe Russell Wilson and Co. will make the proper adjustments to give Bronco fans what they’ve been waiting for.
Currently ranked #12 at his position in an offense that has yet to meet expectations, there’s nowhere to go but up! Keep in mind, Melvin Gordon is still on the roster. However, once the Broncos figure it out? Sound the alarms!
Khalil Herbert
Listen, Khalil Herbert already had more rushing yards than his now injured counterpart. No slight to David Montgomery who is a bonafide bruiser, but Chicagos offense looked different when #24 is in the backfield!

Facing the New York Giants D in week 4 this Sunday, expect fantasy relevancy for the new incumbent starter. Khalil, who is also helpful in the passing game, will give fantasy owners more hope in PPR leagues as well.
