Roger Goodell and the NFL have yet to release a schedule for the 2024 season. However, according to a source that told NFL on CBS, NFL Insider for NFL on CBS Jonathan Jones posted on Twitter as follows:
“The NFL plans to play on Christmas Day again in 2024, even though the holiday falls on a Wednesday. This is a reversal of the league’s previous stance. Christmas Day games draw massive TV ratings. @andrewlbeaton first on the report.”
This comes as a huge surprise because Wednesday is a day where no one usually plays games and where everyone practices. There are usually NBA games on for that day and the NFL in the past has done well with ratings on Christmas Day. It was one thing for them to schedule three games last year on that day because it was a Monday.
However, scheduling games on a Wednesday is going to throw off the schedule of some players. At this point, this is just about money and entertainment and not caring about the safety of the players. Teams are going to have to play either on Thursday or Saturday the week before and obviously not Sunday.
A Lot of NFL Fans are Not Happy That Roger Goodell and the NFL Want to Schedule Games on Christmas Day in 2024
There were a lot of fans who were not happy that the NFL plans on playing games on Wednesday during Christmas Day this season. A lot of fans responded to Twitter about Goodell by saying:
I have said it before and I will say it again: Roger Goodell will not rest until there are NFL games on all 365 days of the year https://t.co/cj2ZIjDP42

A lot of fans have the right to feel what they feel about scheduling games on Christmas Day this upcoming season. It will be interesting to see how many games will be played on that day. Playing on a Wednesday is a joke if we are being honest.
Why doesn’t Goodell just schedule a game every single day of the week while he is at it? It’s all about the money and the TV ratings. Wednesday needs to be a practice day and not a game day. In all honestly, what are we doing here with this? The fans have every right to call out Goodell on Twitter for this.
