Saturday’s preseason contest between the Miami Dolphins and the Jacksonville Jaguars took a turn for the worse in the fourth quarter after the game had to be stopped to attend to a scary head injury for rookie wide receiver Daewood Davis. The former Oregon and Western Kentucky standout had to be carted off the field and rushed to the hospital after lying motionless on the field following a collision with an opposing player.
Daewood Davis Carted Off Field Vs. Jaguars
Davis had to be immobilized as he was taken off the field after a botched catch attempt sent him to the ground. It was a scary sight for players and fans alike as they watched Davis motionless on the field face-down for several minutes. The medical team quickly attended to the 24-year-old as the crowd fell eerily silent amid the injury.

According to reports, Davis was rushed to a nearby hospital. He was reportedly conscious as he was admitted and also had movement in all his extremities.
Officials decided not to resume the game after Davis’ injury.
Mike McDaniel Provides Positive Update on Daewood Davis
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel spoke to the press on Sunday and it was an opportunity for him to provide an update on his rookie wide receiver. Thankfully, McDaniel said that Davis had already been released from the hospital and is now “doing a lot better:”
“Mike McDaniel said rookie WR Daewood Davis just got into team facility. He’s in the concussion protocol. McDaniel said he’s doing a lot better than last night.
‘There’s a lot of guys that are very, very happy to see him,'” per ESPN’s Cameron Wolfe on Twitter.
Davis will now need to undergo more tests and the Dolphins’ medical staff will have to put him under observation before he is cleared to play. However, the biggest takeaway here is that the undrafted rookie is now doing fine. As we have seen in the past, this injury could have been far worse.
