The Dallas Cowboys are interviewing for their new defensive coordinator position that was left open by the major news of Dan Quinn becoming the next head coach of the Washington Commanders. While the team has been looking tirelessly for a new DC, there is one star player who did not even realize that Quinn will no longer be with the team for 2024.
Dallas Cowboys Player Didn’t Know Dan Quinn Left
Tony Pollard must be very separated from the NFL world after starting an early off season. He did not know till today, many days later, that Dan Quinn left the team to be a head coach. Pollard must be enjoying life while he is away from his job as that was major news around the NFL world. Pollard went on the Pat McAffe show where he found out that Quiin left the team.
Pollard said that he deleted his social media during the season so that was why he did not hear the news till much later. He was quoted saying:
“You know what’s crazy?” Pollard said when asked about Quinn taking the Commanders job. “See I haven’t been on social media. I got rid of Instagram like midway through the season. Being a Cowboys you just have to find ways to keep your mental on point…I just found out right now.”
Will Tony Pollard Be With The Team Next Season
While Pollard found out that his DC left, the team has to figure out if Pollard will be with the team next season. They will, at minimum, add another back to join Pollard but they also move off from him completely. Maybe he has that figured out a bit which is why he is not concerned with the major news surrounding the team.
It has been reported that the team is very interested in Derrick Henry, but they can also look for someone in the draft. Pollard is a very solid back and will be able to find a role on many teams, but Dallas may not be one of them. If they do indeed move on from the running back, that would make sense as to why Pollard literally had no idea about the major coaching moves going on.
Or it simply could be that Pollard is enjoying life during his early off season and there’s nothing deeper at play here. Either way it is fascinating that McAffe would be the one to break the news to the back when this is almost ancient news.

He does a great job and he gets the most out of the guys he coaches" ~ @Tp__5
