The New York Jets have had a season to forget in 2023. From being one of the first teams to be eliminated from playoff contention to season-ending injuries to star players like quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the 2024 season cannot come soon enough for the Jets. As we begin the final games of the regular season, the Jets have placed another quarterback on injured reserve, ending this player’s season, and his future with the team in jeopardy.

Zach Wilson‘s Season Done
Quarterback Zach Wilson will be placed on the injured reserve list, meaning his season is over with only one game left. Wilson has been dealing with a concussion, which has led the team to let him sit out the rest of the year. Wilson has had an up-and-down 2023 but ultimately was benched after several poor performances and inconsistent throws.
Wilson will finish the season with 2,271 passing yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He was able to notch his first career 300-plus yard game back in December against the Houston Texans but has been averaging less than 200 yards passing in all other starts he has had. With Rodgers coming back from injury next season, Wilson’s future as a Jet has been a popular question asked amongst NFL fans and analysts.
Will The New York Jets Move On?
While Wilson may not have what it takes to be a solid starter in the league, however, he has proven to be a decent backup option if something were to happen to the starting quarterback. While many Jets fans think Wilson should be traded, he could benefit from shadowing Rodgers in 2024 if he stays healthy. Wilson could learn a thing or two from the veteran, which could make him a starter one day as he is still very young.
New York will have many decisions to make during the offseason, and Wilson will surely be one of them. His inconsistent play and turnover tendencies could jeopardize his job as the backup, but other teams should have some interest in signing him. Is Wilson’s time in New York coming to an end, or will he continue to learn from Rodgers, and one day become the starter once again?
