Las Vegas Raiders wideout Davante Adams, once again, has been linked with the New York Jets heading to the offseason. Considering that his former QB in Aaron Rodgers is already with the Big Apple franchise, perhaps it shouldn’t be a surprise why a reunion between them has always been floated around.
Adams’ future with the Raiders is also a question mark, especially with a new GM coming in and the team seemingly wanting a fresh start after officially naming Antonio Pierce as head coach.
With that said, it makes sense for the Jets to come in and trade for Adams should he be put on the trade block.
Davante Adams Heading To New York Jets To Reunite With Aaron Rodgers?
The Bleacher Report NFL scouting department named Adams as one of the top trade targets for the Jets in the offseason, along with Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Cam Robinson and a potential Day 2 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
While making a deal happen for Adams might be difficult, the BR report came up with a trade proposal that would net the Jets Rodgers’ former Green Bay Packers weapon. The trade would require New York to send their 2024 no. 10 and no. 111 picks, as well 2025 second- and fourth-round picks for Adams and the Raiders’ no. 13 pick in 2024.
The Jets have already pushed most of their chips to the center of the table by making the move for Aaron Rodgers. Why not double down by reuniting Rodgers with his favorite target?
There’s a lot of moving parts to this trade. The Raiders would need to be motivated to move up the board, but if Jayden Daniels were to fall or if they are high on Michael Penix, then this gives them the opportunity to jump ahead of the Vikings and Broncos (both of which could be in the quarterback market) while still getting a stockpile of picks for trading Adams.
Of course it’s unknown how much interest the Jets actually have for Davante Adams. But if Aaron Rodgers campaigns for him, it’s not hard to see New York trying to make a deal happen.
Davante Adams Had Bis Best Years Alongside Aaron Rodgers
There are plenty of reasons why the New York Jets and Aaron Rodgers would want Davante Adams on the team. He already has a proven chemistry with Rodgers, and he had his best years alongside the quarterback during their Packers days.
In eight years with the Packers with Rodgers as his QB, Adams recorded 9,637 yards and 87 touchdowns on 769 receptions. In his last five seasons with the team, he surpassed the 1000-yard mark four times.
It will be definitely amazing to see Rodgers and Adams reunite, though for now, Jets fans shouldn’t have their hopes up too much.
