Davante Adams To New New York Jets Trade Rumors Refuse To Die Despite Major Development

The addition of Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets immediately triggered speculations of a potential reunion with his former top weapon in Green Bay in the form of wide receiver Davante Adams. Several months later, Adams is still with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Davante Adams’ Support For Antonio Pierce Dampens Chances Of Trade To New York Jets

And considering how vocal Adams was in showing his approval of the ide of Antonio Pierce becoming the permanent head coach of the Raiders, it appears that he’s much more interested in focusing on the future of Las Vegas than entertaining thoughts of going to the New York Jets or any other team via trade.

Here’s what Adams said of Pierce (via the New York Post).

“That’s my vote, and that’s basically how the whole locker room feels,” Adams said of Pierce getting the job. “With good reason. He’s come in and done a great job. He’s continued to win us over. It’s not just the comfortable thing. I think having AP here will be good for this organization. He kind of embodies what it means to be a Raider. That mentality, that swag and all the things he endorses [are] the things that I believe in.

It would have likely been a different story for Adams if the Raiders held on to Josh McDaniels, whom the wideout did not seem to be enamored of playing for than he is for Pierce.

Even then, there is always a possibility for Adams to ask for a trade if the landing spot would get him in a much more ideal situation and one that’s more conducive to winning. With Rodgers expected to be back in action in 2024, the New York Jets could be that team.

From Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report:

However, Pierce’s hiring doesn’t change the fact that the Raiders are closer to rebuilding than challenging the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West. The Jets are in win-now mode after Rodgers’ first season with them was spoiled by an Achilles tear.

Adams was traded by the Packers to Las Vegas in 2022 for a 2022 first-round pick and a 2022 second-round pick.
