At the time of this writing, the New York Jets trail the Houston Texans 7-0 at halftime of their Thursday Night Football game. Despite the close score, the game has not seemed particularly close. While New York’s defense has played at a high level, the offense, led by four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers, has sputtered once again.
To be fair, they should have a touchdown on the board. However, rookie wide receiver Malachi Corley dropped the football before crossing the plane of the end zone on what would have been his first NFL score:
“What in the heck is he thinking? Why the urgency for some of these guys to drop the ball? Even if it’s close. Finish the play. Get it in the end zone.”

The run game, also, has not been terrible. Corley’s gaff came on an 18-yard run and running back Breece Hall is averaging 6.2 yards per carry at halftime.

But Aaron Rodgers and the passing offense, playing without Allen Lazard, have struggled. Davante Adams has dropped a couple of passes and tight end Tyler Conklin dropped a pass that initially was ruled a fumble returned for a touchdown.
New York Jets Quarterback Aaron Rodgers Is Struggling
At the half, Rodgers has completed just seven of his 14 passes for a measly 32 yards. He has been sacked twice and has a passer rating of 56.2.
The future Pro Football Hall of Famer started the game 0-4 on passing attempts, matching a career-high consecutive incomplete passes on his first series. His first completion went for negative yardage on a broken-down screen play to Hall.

Going into the game, Rodgers had a 61.6% completion percentage, 1,896 passing yards, 12 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. While these numbers are not terrible by themselves, they do not take into consideration how bad he actually looks on the field.
Indeed, Rodgers has been blamed for most of the offense’s struggles ever since the Jets decided to fire Robert Saleh and trade for Adams.
And now, Jets fans want to see someone else.
New York Jets Fans Want Aaron Rodgers Benched for Tyrod Taylor
As the first half came to a close, many Jets fans and NFL media members took to social media posing the question of whether Rodgers is the right quarterback for the Jets right now. These fans and content creators would like to see Tyrod Taylor get some playing time:
I’m not saying this to be silly or goofy.
I think Tyrod Taylor gives the #Jets a better chance to win right now.

Jets should think about going with Tyrod Taylor in the second half. I’m not kidding.

@nyjets get Tyrod Taylor in the game

My first thought after that first half was that it is no longer hyperbolic to suggest Tyrod Taylor is a better option than Aaron Rodgers right now. https://t.co/aTLQAqp4C7

At some point you have to consider going with Tyrod Taylor in the second half right?

As this was being written, Rodgers threw a touchdown pass to Garrett Mitchell to tie the game on the first drive in the third quarter.
