The New York Jets have previously been mentioned as a potential Davante Adams trade suitor this offseason. And after a rather disappointing campaign, it’s only natural for fans to wonder what their next move is and if they will really pursue the Las Vegas Raiders wideout and former Aaron Rodgers teammate.
Before fans get too excited about what could be, however, Rodgers wanted to clarify that there has been no conversations internally about the Jets possibly pursuing Adams.
The Jets quarterback said as much in his recent appearance on the Pat McAfee show. When asked about the discussions he’s had and having with the organization about Adams, Rodgers emphasized that it’s something that hasn’t really come up.
“None right now, absolutely none. … Obviously, creating a championship team is the goal for Joe [Douglas] and obviously that’s what Woody [Johnson] wants. Me coming back is obviously a big part of that, but you need the players around you. Davante Adams is a fantastic player. He also plays for the Raiders,” Rodgers shared, highlighting that his former Green Bay Packers teammate appears to be happy with his current situation in Las Vegas.

Aaron Rodgers didn’t really close the door on the possibility of the New York Jets trading for Davante Adams, but he understands that such thing isn’t something he can discuss publicly.
Not to mention that Adams does seem to be happier with the Las Vegas Raiders, especially with the recent turnaround that they had with Antonio Pierce.
Of course a lot of things can change in the NFL. But as Rodgers said, it’s still too early to have any conversations about their next steps.
New York Jets, Davante Adams Linked Before
As mentioned, the New York Jets have previously been reported to be a team that could chase for Davante Adams this offseason. After all, he has played with Aaron Rodgers and actually thrived with him when they were both still with the Green Bay Packers.
Apparently, the Jets inquired about Adams during the 2023 trade deadline but were “rebuffed” by the Raiders, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN last November. Nonetheless, Schefter did note that the team could revisit the trade idea after the campaign.
“But the Jets might not be willing to take no for an answer, as sources around the NFL expect that New York will pursue Adams again this offseason,” Schefter revealed, noting a source who said that it “will happen.”
For what it’s worth, Rodgers recently admitted that the Jets need to improve their wide receiving group. He also pitched himself to help in recruiting if the team needs him. Maybe New York can ask him to talk to Adams?
Sure enough, it’ll be interesting to see what they do.
