The New York Giants are looking for some undrafted free agents to potentially make the 53-man roster this season. There will be several of them at training camp when it begins in a couple of weeks. A lot of those players are buried on the depth chart and we will see what they can do during camp.
Some of the roster is already decided for the 2024 season and some of the roster is up for grabs. One of the strengths of this New York Giants defense this season is their linebackers. They will be playing a 3-4 defensive scheme this season under Shane Bowen.

Wink Martindale and the New York Giants parted ways during the offseason. This is one of the reasons why Bowen is the defensive coordinator this season. Kayvon Thibodeaux and Brian Burns will be the starting outside linebackers.
Azeez Ojulari will be another player in the rotation for the Giants at outside linebacker. Bobby Okekere and Micah McFadden will be the starting inside linebackers this season for the New York Giants.
Undrafted Free Agent Outside Linebacker Ovie Oghoufo From the LSU Tigers Is a Name To Watch For During Training Camp For the New York Giants

The Giants are already deep at outside linebackers heading into training camp. Ovie Oghoufo is already 24 years old. He is 6’3″ and weighs 237 lbs. Oghoufo is buried on the New York Giants depth chart heading into training camp.
Despite that, Joseph Anderson of gmenhq.com thinks that LSU Tigers’ undrafted player Ovie Oghoufo has a chance to make noise during training camp. Anderson said:
“New Giants defensive coordinator Shane Bowen wants an edge player to be relentless, wreak havoc, and pressure the QB. He won’t be as aggressive as former DC Wink Martindale scheme wise, but he wants defensive linemen that can win without having to do as much blitzing. Last year, outside of Kayvon Thibodeaux, the Giants didn’t have another consistent edge-rusher that could keep the pressure on opposing teams’ offenses. Schoen traded forBurns to hopefully be that consistent edge-rusher from the other side.
While the edge group may be coming together, there are a lot of questions after Thibs and Burns. Who is the third guy in the rotation? Is that person currently even on the roster? A lot of fans and coaches alike are hoping it will be Azeez Ojulari, but he has had injury concerns the past two years. After Ojulari, the Giants have Boogie Basham, Benton Whitley, Tomon Fox, and undrafted free agent Ovie Oghoufo. Basham, Whitley, and Fox struggled last season, and outside of Thibodeaux the next Giants edge with some production was Jihad Ward, who is no longer with the team.
Oghoufo is an undrafted free agent edge out of LSU who has a big chance at making the team. He doesn’t have any eye-popping stats or elite traits, but what he lacks there he makes up for with his relentless pursuit, a crazy motor, and a no quit attitude. He isn’t going to put up 15-sack seasons, but what the Giants are going to need is a hard-working player who is going to fight play after play, to play at the QBs heels, and to keep them uncomfortable.
If Oghoufo can show to the staff that he can outwork the other unproven players in the room, Oghoufo might be sticking to this roster, and not just the practice squad. Let’s see if he can take advantage of his reps once camp gets here.”
Oghoufo played in 13 games last season with the LSU Tigers. He recorded 34 tackles, 4.0 tackles for a loss, 2.5 sacks, one pass deflection, one fumble recovery, and one forced fumble. Ovie Oghoufo has a chance to prove a lot of people wrong during the New York Giants training camp.

Just because a player is undrafted, doesn’t mean they will not get a chance to shine. The New York Giants have struggled to get a pass rush over the past several years and need depth at the position.
