Alabama fans experienced many different emotions on Wednesday because they were able to go into the state of Ohio and land one of the best players in the 2025 class, Edge Justin Hill, taking him away from the Buckeyes, who were the favorite to land him. Still, they also lost a piece on the defensive side of their 2025 class today.

According to Hayes Fawcett from On3.com, linebacker Myles Johnson has decommited from Alabama. Johnson committed to the Crimson Tide last October and is an Alabama native.

Johnson is ranked 27th linebacker in the 2025 class, according to 247sports.com, and had interest from schools like Florida and Mississippi State before committing to Alabama.

The 6-foot-1, 220-pound linebacker visited Florida on June 7th, and a month later, he decommitted from his current school, so there is a great chance he will play for the Gators. Currently, he is crystal balled to Billy Napier and Florida.

If Johnson does decide to commit to Florida, there is a good chance he might end up decommitting again because head coach Billy Napier is on the hot seat this season, and they have a tough schedule. There is a chance they don’t make a bowl game, and Napier is out the door. When a coach leaves or gets fired, players often leave the school, so it could be a possibility for Johnson if he chooses the Gators.

Even though the Crimson Tide lost Johnson, they are still ranked as the second-best recruiting class in 2025, right behind Ohio State, where they took a player from today, so it’s still going pretty well for head coach Kalen DeBoer and the team.
