Russell Wilson is meeting with teams ahead of his release by the Denver Broncos at the start of the league year on Wednesday. The Broncos had permitted Wilson to immediately begin speaking and meeting with other teams in their home cities. Wilson was spotted at Newark airport this morning after his meeting with the New York Giants on Thursday boarding a plane to Pittsburgh to meet with the Steelers.
New York Giant Ties
Russell Wilson and the New York Giants reportedly had an “exploratory” meeting on Thursday. Wilson has ties to New York Giants pass game coordinator and QB Coach Shae Tierney from his time at North Carolina State. There were also whispers of Wilson to the New York Giants while Wilson was trying to get out of Seattle originally.
The Giants, meanwhile, have said they expect to add a quarterback, whether it be in free agency or the draft, this offseason. Daniel Jones is rehabbing from a torn ACL and backup Tyrod Taylor is set to become a free agent. The Giants could get out of Jones’ four-year, $160 million deal after the 2024 season. The cost would be a manageable $22.2 million dead cap hit in 2025.
