The New York Giants just finished off a disappointing season. With a record of 6-11, the Giants were expected to make some changes. However, one member of the New York Giants coaching staff has reportedly resigned.
DC Don “Wink” Martindale Resigns
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, New York Giants DC Don “Wink” Martindale will resign from the team. This comes after reports from this morning speculated that he would remain on the staff. He spent just two seasons with the New York Giants as their defensive coordinator.
However, Martindale has extensive experience as a football coach. He spent the prior four years as the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens. His overall coaching history dates back to 1986. Because of this, Rapoport and many others believe he will not remain on the market for very long.
New York Giants Moving Forward
This announcement comes as a bit of a surprise. Especially because star DE Kayvon Thibodeaux was starting to thrive in Wink’s defensive scheme. Thibodeaux had 11.5 sacks this season.
Along with Martindale resigning, the Giants also fired their OL coach and special teams coordinator. Now, New York looks to move forward and get back to where they were after the 2022-23 season.
